A charity leg-wax has gone smoothly, with True Potential staff fundraising £1,279 for Newcastle West End Foodbank. True Potential’s Senior Partners have generously doubled that donation to £2,558.

Seven staff braved the waxing strips, as their 300 colleagues watched on and donated during their weekly staff-webinar. Following his wax, Christian Taylor said “It is a good cause and, to be honest, a really good laugh on the Webinar with the other lads. And yes, it hurt. Avoid it if possible is my advice!”

Nathen Lockett added “I think worrying about how much it would hurt was worse than the pain from the waxing itself, but I’m really happy with the amount that True Potential managed to raise for a great cause!”

Newcastle West End Foodbank is a vital local community charity, and in the first six months of 2020 it supplied 26,228 emergency supplies to people in crisis. As part of the supplies, the Foodbank provides three days’ nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to local people who are referred in crisis. On average 4,250 people are fed every month by food parcels issued by the Foodbank,  to service this demand it requires about 25 tonnes of food every month.

John McCorry, Chief Executive at the Foodbank said, “We are so grateful to the folks at True Potential LLP for raising these funds to support the essential work of our charity.  It is fantastic to see how creative the True Potential people have been in deciding on Leg Waxing as their fundraiser activity.  I hope it wasn’t too painful an experience for those involved and we are delighted to be selected as their charity and to receive this wonderful donation.  Thank you to the Leg Waxers and everyone who made a donation, it will make a real difference to helping others in their time of need.”

One of True Potential’s guiding principles is to “Do More” for clients, colleagues and community. The company were one of the first to sign the C-19 Business Pledge committing to these principles, and through the last year True Potential and charity partner the Harrison Foundation are proud to have donated over £350,000 to charitable causes. The firm also provided thousands of food parcels to vulnerable and isolated people across the UK through its national network of over 4,000 financial advisers.

Praising the fundraising efforts of the charity leg-wax, True Potential Chief Executive Daniel Harrison said “I’ve heard the team describe themselves as smooth operators in the past and their legs definitely live up to that moniker now!

On a serious note, I’m happy that we’ve been able to help such a worthwhile cause as this. The work that is does for our local communities is incredibly important.

Thank you to the team for proposing this cause and for everyone at True Potential who donated.”
